Lucca restaurant opened April 1st, 2003. During the course of the last 5 years, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to be mentioned in many newspaper articles- as well as featured in more than a dozen news and television programs shown throughout the Sacramento area.

Recently, Lucca's received the distinguished award by the state of California to be chosen as the restaurant to represent and illuminate the California Fresh Campaign; highlighting the benefits of locally grown and sustainable agriculture and emphasizing the bounty of California's farmlands. Serving as a backdrop to the Governor's speeches in Japan, the lushly gardened courtyard presented a lovely promotion of our beautiful and culinary inclined state.

We look forward to seeing you at Lucca,

Shriver dazzles the crowd at Borders Books
By Alison Roberts

Names & Faces

Maria Shriver came, she signed, she conquered – or at least seriously charmed the crowd at Borders Books on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Sacramento on Tuesday evening. She signed more than 1000 copies of her latest children's book, “Whats Happening to Grandpa?” (Little Brown Children's Books/Warner Books, $15.95). The book, Shriver's third for children, tells of a young girl 's questions about her grandfather, who has Alzheimer's disease. Shriver, the wife of the Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, has said she was inspired to write the book because her father, Sargent Shriver, has the disease.

“Wow, thank you all for coming,” she said after she made her entrance to a standing ovation shortly after 7 p.m., wearing a fringed, gold-colored suit and strappy high-heeled shoes.

People started lining up at 10 a.m. for the event. By 7:30 p.m. the line snaked through the store and out into the parking lot, with at least 100 people outside.

People got more than just a signature, as Shriver chatted and posed for photos with them. They also got more than just one celebrity. Shortly before 8 p.m. actor Rob Lowe, who was spotted eating with Shriver, the governor and others at Lucca Restaurant in midtown, showed up, making it a two star evening.
