Lucca restaurant opened April 1st, 2003. During the course of the last 5 years, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to be mentioned in many newspaper articles- as well as featured in more than a dozen news and television programs shown throughout the Sacramento area.
Recently, Lucca's received the distinguished award by the state of California to be chosen as the restaurant to represent and illuminate the California Fresh Campaign; highlighting the benefits of locally grown and sustainable agriculture and emphasizing the bounty of California's farmlands. Serving as a backdrop to the Governor's speeches in Japan, the lushly gardened courtyard presented a lovely promotion of our beautiful and culinary inclined state.
We look forward to seeing you at Lucca,

Four Eateries Promise Great Dining Adventures
By Mike Dunne, Bee Restaurant Critic
Dining
Within a month, four restaurants opened in Sacramento. That alone isn't news, but the bold nature of these restaurants makes their debuts notable.
In tenor and goals, each is highly individualistic, representing widely different personalities, architectural aesthetics and culinary styles.
All are independently and locally owned. All represent gusty investments. All are fresh and vibrant.
Together, they demonstrate a stirring confidence in the adventurous spirit of Sacramento diners. There hasn't been another month quite like it in recent Sacramento dining history. Here are some impression of the new players.
Lucca
What to expect: Skylights, windows that open onto J Street, and big bold paintings – most notably Helmut Koller's bright blue goose – help insinuate a large, utilitarian and historic red-brick building with a warm and chic tone. Big dining rooms front and rear, separated by an open kitchen, are to be supplemented in about a month with a patio opposite 16th Street from Memorial Auditorium.
